Condé Nast Traveller & Cartier Diwali

A vibrant celebration of Love and Light.

Condé Nast Traveller hosted its 2024 Diwali celebration in London at the iconic Dorchester hotel, collaborating with Cartier to honour the Festival of Lights in grand style. They asked us to curate a unique, narrative-led guest experience that blended luxury, tradition, and cultural heritage, with an emphasis on fostering community and sharing Indian traditions globally .

We decided to play with a relatively minimal set of design elements (light, colours, florals, diamond shapes and gold or mirrored surfaces), but use them in large quantities and scale to create a graphic and contemporary aesthetic.

Entering the space, guests walked through a ‘field of light’ featuring hundreds of candles that created dynamic sweeping movements across the floor. In collaboration with luxury florist Blooming Haus, we also re-imagined the rangoli, a decorative pattern typically placed in homes or courtyards to welcome positive energy, as an interactive installation. Guests were invited to add their well wishes for the community in the form of different coloured flower petals that represented prosperity, fortune, love, joy, light and wisdom. Post-event, the flowers were either composted or turned into confetti.

Each detail of the multi-sensory event was designed to make everyone in the room feel part of something special, and carry a touch of that magic home with them when they left.
