BeViacom’s ‘Talking Shop’

An immersive kaleidoscopic experience.

Designed as a kaleidoscopic superstore on acid, and described by It’s Nice That as “a vibrant triumph of immersive spatial design”.

Over 3 days in London, staff, clients and industry leaders were invited through an alternate and twisted reality of talks and activities. What they experienced was a journey down a rabbit hole in a secret Soho location; an escape into a surreal department store - unravelling the worlds of MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

In collaboration with the team at Amplify and unleashing our inner mad-hatters, we reimagined every detail of a typical store. Ordinary settings - the food court, shopping aisles, retail displays - were reinterpreted through a psychedelic lens; playing on bold colour combinations, extreme scales and tongue-in-cheek imaginary products.

MTV embodied the Lifestyle Cafe complete with whimsical mannequins and a mesmerising mural by artist Alex Noble.

For Comedy Central, we created aisles of actual canned laughter, with food tins emitting ‘sound bites’ from well-loved episodes of Friends, South Park and Futurama. Complete with a life-size 'Tinema' for viewing content.

Nickelodeon was imagined as a grocery-aisle gone bonkers: heroing a supersized shopping trolley crashing into a wall of products.

The experience presented a playful and disruptive platform for the media industry’s community to engage in leading edge discussions and exchanges.
