Loro Piana’s ‘Workshop of Wonders’

An ode to craft and creation on Harrods’ facades.

Celebrating its centennial, luxury brand Loro Piana invited Sculptivate to design and produce a holiday installation across the famed Harrods façades. The intention was to pay homage to the brand’s heritage and process of crafting exquisite textiles, from raw material to the finished product.

Our in-depth knowledge of working with the store’s iconic architecture enabled us to deliver an uncompromised creative vision, unraveling the ‘story of a fibre, light as a cloud…transforming into cloth’.

The centerpiece was a 17-meter Christmas tree adorned with fabric swatches, and the Brompton Road facade came alive with animations illustrating the journey of fibers into luxury fabrics, enhancing Harrods' already iconic holiday lights.

To have a scaled verisimilitude to their corresponding materials, rigorous attention to detail was required in the finishes and approach to the animated lighting. The process began with hundreds of hours of in-house creative exploration and design work, turning 2D into 3D and then into an initial full sampling process in the UK - allowing us to verify the scale and level of detail demanded by the design.

Living up to its name, the Workshop of Wonders pays homage to a truly inspirational Maison and transports visitors on a poetic journey – celebrating discovery, craft and the process of creation.
